Promoting the Implementation of Proven Safety Countermeasures

Highway fatalities have seen a significant drop from 41,259 in 2007, to 32,885 in 2010. Highway safety programs have played a significant role in this decline by analyzing where safety improvements could be made, while utilizing nine safety countermeasures that FHWA worked with Division Offices to collectively advance. To learn more about the countermeasures, check out the “Guidance Memorandum on the Consideration and Implementation of Proven Safety Countermeasures”.
